THE SYSTEM DISEASES OF THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM : ULCER OF ESOPHAGUS PEPTIC (ULCUS OESOPHAGI PEPTI - CUM) - etiology, pathogenesis, symptoms and course of, recognition, prediction and prevention
Etiology. Throwing into the esophagus acidic gastric juice in connection with the failure of the cardia, often on the basis of weakening the tone of the cardia in chronic aeropagite in alcoholics.
The pathogenesis is similar to the pathogenesis of gastric ulcers.
Symptoms. Pain in the lower third of the sternum, radiating to the back; pain occur immediately or after 10-15 minutes after eating; often dysphagia, regurgitation of food, and sometimes bleeding.
Course and complications. During resembles periodicity for stomach ulcers. Complications are reduced to bleeding, perforation and cicatricial contractions.
Recognition when life is very difficult. Have to differentsirovat as a disease of the stomach (ulcer of the lesser curvature or cardiac part of the stomach), and disease of the esophagus (ulcers: cancer, tuberculosis, syphilis or varicose ulcers of the esophagus).
In most cases, the prediction is favorable; however, not exclude the possibility of recurrence and the above-mentioned complications.
A rare disease and its prevention has not yet been developed.
Treatment is mainly diet. It is best to start with a starvation diet for 2-3 days. Otherwise, the treatment is carried out as and when gastric ulcer (see).
