DISEASES OF THE MUCOUS MEMBRANES OF THE ORAL CAVITY : THRUSH IN THE MOUTH (SOOR, STOMATOMYCOSIS) - etiology, pathogenesis, symptoms and course of, recognition, prediction and prevention
Etiology. Is caused by a fungus of the family monilia candida. By increasing the alkalinity of the medium, the growth of the fungus lingers.
The pathogenesis. Thrush in the mouth affects mainly young children. Adults get thrush quite rare. The moment that predispose to the disease is the decline of power.
Symptoms. The fungus affects any area of the mouth. Unaltered mucosa appears milky white spots, very similar to food waste, especially on scraps of casein. Spots, due to peripheral growth, blend together, forming a white overlay. When OTDELENIE these overlays mucous membrane bleeding. Treatment is based on the negative action of alkalis on the growth of the fungus. The affected areas are lubricated with a solution of borax (2 - 4%), soda (1%).
