DISEASES OF THE NOSE, THROAT AND NASOPHARYNX : INFLAMMATION OF THE SPHENOID SINUS (SINUSITIS SPHENOIDALIS ACUTA ET CHRONICA) - etiology, pathogenesis, symptoms and course of, recognition, prediction and prevention
Symptoms. Headache with predominant localization in the neck, discharge, neyhouse on the back of the throat, pus in the olfactory slit, dulling the sense of smell.
Complications. Retrobulbar neuritis, threatening blindness; basal meningitis and cavernous sinus thrombosis, manifested in headaches, a high temperature on a large scale, ACTIGALL, eyelid edema, congestive nipple.
Is made on the basis of clinical and x-ray (diffuse darkening of the cavity).
Prediction is not always favorable.
The same methods of conservative treatment, as with other acute inflammation (see Inflammation of the maxillary sinus acute), surgical treatment - opening of the sphenoid sinuses.
