EYE DISEASES : CHANCRE OF THE EYELID (ULCUS DURUM PALPEBRAE) - etiology, pathogenesis, symptoms and course of, recognition, prediction and prevention
Etiology. Treponema pallidum.
The pathogenesis. Skid syphilitic infection on the mucous membrane of the eyelid margin.
Symptoms. Solid ulcer of the eyelid margin with a greasy bottom. Painless seal of the parotid and submandibular glands.
For. Local process on century lasts from 1 to 1½ months and in the absence of early therapeutic intervention inevitably leads to a General infection.
Characteristic greasy appearance of the ulcer and the regional seal glands in the early stages differs from the usual barley. Microscopic examination of discharge from the ulcer in a dark field shows the presence of pale spirochetes and confirms the diagnosis.
Energetic General specific therapy (mercury, powerseal, biogenol). Topically - washing with a disinfectant solution (rivanol 2 : 1 000 or potassium permanganate), xeroderma or mercurial ointment. Eye ointment.
