Etiology and pathogenesis HYPERGONADISM (HYPERGENITALISMUS)

The basis of disease is increased functional activity of the gonads. Lesions of the genital glands, pineal gland, adrenal cortex, dropsy of the ventricles of the brain, encephalitis, etc. can serve as an etiological cause of the disease. Cases in which, along with premature puberty, there is accelerated General physical development mental retardations, the so-called macrogenitosomia leesah, often depend on the destruction of the endocrine glands.
